Day 47 (lock down)
Saturday 9th May - bike **** - Felixstowe circuit via Kirton Creek –
Sunny and warm.
Change of plan today and instead of heading out late for a sandwich lunch
we went earlier for breakfast, also this is the last of the really good
weather with strong, cold northerly winds for a couple of days. We left the
house at 8.30 and headed straight down to the prom which was fairly busy
with walkers and joggers, Things quietened down once we reached The Dip and
we stopped to take some pics of the lovely poppies growing in a bank by the
cliff top car park:) We were going to stop by the River Deben mouth, a
favourite of ours especially with the tide low but as there are no boats on
the river during lock down it was a little boring so continued up the Deben
path stopping at the benches by the water ski jetty. We enjoyed our cuppa
and brioche in the lovely warm sunshine while being entertained by Turns
and Shell ducks. Well refreshed we decided to continue along the now bumpy
river path to Kirton Creek, the warm weather has dried out the path making
it very bumpy in places now! We spotted the usual nesting swans, a heron, a
Marsh Harrier and Buzzards and had a couple of nice chats with other
cyclists making the most of Suffolk’s quiet beauty:) At the creek we
turned left heading for Kirton across farm tracks and footpaths as the
crops continue to grow well, amazing considering now dry it is! Yet more
buzzards circling over the A 14 and home in time for me to do my exercises
in a very warm back garden with loads of Swifts above but still none in our
new Swift box even with Mag playing Swift calls out of the bedroom window
on an old laptop!
